We contracted with Roberts Custom Homes to build our home at 5461 N. Hondo Lane because we had toured a home that they had built, and were impressed by the design and quality of workmanship. At that time, we were living in California and were in no position to "shop around" for the "perfect" builder. However, it turned out we had found the perfect builder in Roberts Custom Homes.

Max and Debbie Roberts never once gave us cause to regret our hurried decision. On the contrary, their professionalism, integrity, honesty, and helpfulness made building our home an exciting and enjoyable experience.

Although the size and shape of our lot posed unique problems in designing our house (in order to maximize the view), Max Roberts expertly met those challenges, drawing plans that met our specifications and desires. Throughout the building process, they were always willing to listen to our ideas and make any last minute changes and alterations, whenever possible.

Their integrity with us, the homeowners, and with the men who worked on the house, was above reproach. With never a raised voice or display of temper they organized and supervised amid the chaos of workmen, keeping the whole process on schedule. They were completely honest and did what they promised, when they promised. Most importantly, they were always available either by phone or a meeting to listen to us and help us through the building experience.

My husband and I are currently in the construction phase of a new home. Prior to selecting Roberts Custom Homes, we spent the better part of a year interviewing builders in the Treasure Valley. Having sold a large well constructed home after 20 years, we had a strict set of criteria for our retirement home. During our first interview with Max and Debbie Roberts, they encouraged us to visit with any or all of their former clients and we did. When our property had to be re-staked and the drains moved because of a mistake that was not theirs, they bore the expense and would not let us cover the cost.

The relationships they form are their number one priority and they are immensely proud of each home they build. Max and Debbie give the best they have to give. We are retired and recently moved to Idaho from another state. We had been talking about the idea of building a house and had been making the rounds of open houses on weekends to become more familiar with builders and floor plans available. One of those open houses happened to be the personal residence of Max & Debbie Roberts and they were present to show their house and answer questions. We were immediately impressed with the quality and style of their house, and after spending an hour or so talking with them, we were also impressed with their openness and sincere desire to do everything possible to build us a house exactly the way we wanted it. Max has a creative talent that allows him to translate words and ideas into designs that are appealing and can be cost effectively built.

After that meeting, my wife and I agreed we wanted a Roberts Custom Home. We chose a beautiful lot in Rivers End and began construction in early January 2005. Our house was finished on time and within budget. In all of the decisions and changes we made during construction, Debbie and Max always put our interest first and generously included many items that could have been incorporated into a change order. Debbie and Max operate their business with very high professional and ethical standards, a characteristic frequently lacking today. Without exception, their subcontractors consistently show pride in delivering high quality work.

Our decision to have Roberts Custom Homes (Debbie and Max) build our dream home was easy after we saw their work in a home they had built in Meridian, talked with their subs, and met with other clients. We were confident they were the contractors for us, or should I say builders. They not only contract others to do work, but they are an incredible building team. Max can create any design you want with their up-to-date drafting software program, making changes as needed. He also has incredible craftsmanship, working with wood, tile, marble, rock, and stone. I give their dad credit for their skills, because he's also part of the team. I'm not sure if dad is Max's sidekick or Max is dad's sidekick. Either way they make a great dad and son combo. Debbie's role is general contractor, handling all the details, schedules, meetings, and changes. She is the go to person and great to work with.

We started the project when the house was being framed. Their concern for detail, quality and passion was evident from the beginning. Max, Debbie, and dad all spent many late nights making sure the fireplace woodwork, the marble tiled bathtub, the marble tile inlayed into hardwood floor entry and the granite tiled kitchen counters were all built to the Roberts standards. Debbie's interior design skills were evident when we began to work on paint, carpeting, light fixtures, wall papering and accessories. She has great vision of how colors should go together.

Every step of the project was well planned and orchestrated. Schedules were met and changes accommodated. Not only did we get an incredibly well built home, we developed a life time friendship with the Roberts's.

We've been in the home now for one and a half years and still love it as much as we did when we moved in. Any follow up issues have been very minor and have been dealt with very quickly. We celebrated one year in our new home on March 24th and were reminded of your efforts in making our move to Idaho such a success. Moving is always traumatic, but the two of you made our move from Pennsylvania very easy.

In our previous home, we had innumerable issues with our builders. You were fantastic! Not only did you build a beautiful home, you also did a great job "tweaking" it for us to make it feel like home as soon as we walked through the door. We really appreciated the speed with which you responded to our questions and your follow-up after the papers were signed was incomparable.
